Lecture transcripts for Claude · Mac
Study with a Claude that sat through every lecture.
Stenny transcribes your lectures on your Mac. Your Claude project reads every one, so it answers from what was said in class.
Free · Needs Claude and a Mac with M1 or later · English, French, German
Okay, can everyone hear me at the back? Good.
Let's go back to the housing data from last week, the cloud of points.
Last week we fitted the line with least squares. Today we ask how good that line actually is.
R squared compares the variance the model explains with the total variance.
So an R squared of one means every point sits exactly on the line.
And zero means the line explains nothing at all.
Now let's see what happens on the test data…
What you need
There are two things you need, and two things that make it nicer.
Claude and a Mac with an Apple chip are all Stenny needs. Obsidian and your calendar are optional. The setup asks about both, so there's nothing you have to prepare beforehand.
The initial setup takes about 20–30 minutes. After this, Stenny does the rest.
Free and open source (MIT)
You need
- Claudeanswers from your lectures
- A Mac with an Apple chipM1 or newer
Nice to have
- Obsidianto read the transcripts as notes
- A calendarso Stenny knows when class starts
How it works
Set it up once. Then just go to class.
Every lecture reaches Claude by itself. You never paste a transcript or upload a file.
-
10 minutes before
Stenny asks.
It reads your timetable and offers to record. It never starts by itself.
-
During the lecture
You listen.
A live draft fills your Obsidian note within seconds. One shortcut pauses it.
-
About 20 minutes after
You're gone. Stenny isn't.
The final transcript replaces the draft: sections, a timestamp on every paragraph and a summary.
-
Exam week
You ask Claude.
Every lecture is already in your course's Claude project, so answers come with the lecture and the minute.
did the prof say anything about what’s on the midterm?
Yes, twice. At the end of lecture 3: the midterm covers everything up to regression diagnostics, and one question asks you to read R squared off a printout. At the start of lecture 4: the mock exam on the course page is “very close” to the real one.
Why Stenny
Ask Claude.
It quotes your lecturer.
Every lecture lands in your vault as a clean transcript. Your course's Claude project reads all of them, so it answers from what was said in class and tells you the lecture and the minute.

Claude Code sets it up for you.
Download the code, open it in Claude Code and ask it to follow the setup guide. It installs everything, builds the menu bar app and asks about your vault, calendar and courses.
